Imagine having the power to digitize the entire contents of your overstuffed file cabinet in a matter of hours. With the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 document scanner this is entirely possible. The Fujitsu ScanSnap is unlike any scanner you have ever seen as it is not a flatbed scanner. It is totally dedicated to document scanning and it is very good at what it was designed to do. It is also compact; one user describes its size akin to a loaf of bread, so you don’t have to worry about the scanner taking up too much valuable office space. Fujitsu ScanSnap Features Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Fujitsu ScanSnap is its ability to zip through an impressive 20 pages per minute and create immediate pdf files for you to organize as you wish. It even does duplex scanning (double-sided). Scanning both sides of a document doesn’t slow the scanner down, however, so this can actually translate to 40 pages per minute if most of your documents do have two sides. The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner can also accommodate documents of almost any size from legal sized files all the way down to business cards and receipts. Here are some more [...]

The Epson Perfection V300 is one of the more popular photo scanners on the market today, even though it lacks some features of the other top photo scanners. But what the V300 has going for it is the quality of an Epson scanner for under $100. If you can live with great over superb quality in order to save money, then the Epson V300 may just be the scanner for you. Versatility Like all good photo scanners, the Epson Perfection V300 lets you scan photos, artwork and documents without sacrificing quality. The 4800 dpi optical resolution does a nice job of maintaining detail, even as you enlarge images (up to 13×19 from film). This scanner also includes a high-rise lid, making it easy to scan 3D objects or scan pages out of an old book or scrapbook. Old Photos and Film Even though this photo scanner can easily enhance and reproduce brand new photos, it’s with handling old photos, film and slides that this scanner really shines. The V300 can scan up to 4 slides or 6 35mm film negative slides at once, eliminating the need to pay for reprints. The built-in photo restoration capabilities cancel out red eye and [...]

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 is a portable scanner that fits well into any on-the-go computing scenario. It’s compatible with Macs and PCs, so Macbook lovers and PC laptop users alike will both enjoy having a small, lightweight and fast scanner at their fingertips. It weighs less than one pound, in fact. The S1100 fits right into a laptop bag easily and runs on one USB power cord. Drawbacks include lack of duplex functionality and moderate speed, so for small jobs, simply taking a photo can be faster. If you need scanner quality, though, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 is an excellent value. A Portable Scanner for Mail, Plastic Cards and Receipts If you’re a busy traveler, you know the need you have occasionally for having a scanner on you so that you can scan letters, important documents and receipts in particular. Most financially savvy individuals these days scan all of their receipts and important letters. Some users even scan business cards for immediate filing in addition to plastic cards. Yes, you can scan plastic with this unit. If you have plastic ID cards that need scanning, perhaps at a school or business event that requires such cards, you can easily scan [...]

Scanners have come a long way in recent years. The old models were slow and the quality wasn’t always that great. Luckily, a lot has changed in the field of home scanning. One of the companies that has been recognized for leading the way in scanner improvements is Canon and one of the most impressive yet relatively affordable scanners that they make is the Canon CanoScan 9000F scanner. This scanner captures images in seconds, and the quality of those images is really quite good. We decided to do a bit of research on this color scanner to see how it stacks up as a photo scanner. Simplicity – At Last Some scanners on the market today are anything but user-friendly. Fortunately, the CanoScan 9000F seems to go against this trend. It really was striking to find out just how many user-friendly features are built into this high quality scanner. From simple-to-use, one-touch buttons to a helpful Auto-Scan mode, this is a scanner that is simple to take out of the box, and even simpler to use. Let’s face it, none of us have time to sit around and learn about complicated functions on a scanner. Canon seems to know this, [...]

The Canon LiDE210 scanner is an ultra compact image scanner up to 4800 dpi. It provides fast, accurate scans and can automatically detect and adjust scan settings based on what type of document you are scanning. It is relatively lightweight and only requires one USB cable for connection to the computer. You won’t have to deal with bulky power packs and cords ever again. What can it scan? The Canon CanoScan LiDE210 will do a great job scanning virtually anything, including receipts, treasured photographs and other important documents. What it can’t handle however are large, three-dimensional objects, or in other words any document or object that does not come into direct contact with the glass scanning surface. Something which may fall into this category is a novel or textbook which cannot be flattened out perfectly. Some relatively thin books may be able to be scanned one page at a time by hanging them off the end of a table at a 90 degree angle and placing a weight on top of the scanner. What about the included image restoration software? While the advanced photo restoration settings may seem like a quick fix to improving old or damaged scans, in most [...]

The Epson Perfection V600 photo scanner is definitely in the higher class of scanners when you consider its fast scanning, handling of both documents and negatives/slides and imagine quality. It’s not your dad’s old clunker of a scanner, as it speeds through with its energy-efficient LED imaging. No warm-up is needed, which is a great improvement over the standard scanner most people are used to dealing with. And with 6400X9600 DPI resolution, which is more than you’ll probably ever need, you can blow up a film strip to almost two feet in height. How’s that for power? There are a few minor drawbacks, which are outlined below, but overall the V600 Scanner by Epson a quality piece of equipment on any computer desk. The Epson Perfection V600 Technical Specs As mentioned earlier, you’ll be able to scan at 6400×9600 DPI. To put this in perspective, most printing establishments need at least a 300 DPI quality image for quality printing. This scanner can output a 6400 DPI image. Needless to say, image resolution will not be an issue with the V600 on the job. To save file space on your hard drive, however, you’re going to be just as well to [...]

As technology progresses, the cost of quality is becoming more affordable. The Canon CanoScan LiDE110 image scanner is a great way to go high-tech on a budget. This inexpensive flatbed scanner is designed for a wide range of uses, easily scanning everything from business cards to full-sized documents. The CanoScan LiDE110 is also compact, perfect for travel and trendy standing desks. Features of the LiDE110 This image scanner has a few nice features worth mentioning. First of all, it’s exceptionally compact. The Canon CanoScan LiDE110 weighs in at less than 4 pounds, and is less than 2 inches high when closed. Its Z-lid expands generously for scanning books and thick documents, however this scanner can not be turned on its side for upright scanning like its cousin the LiDE210. The 4 “EZ Buttons” on the CanoScan LiDE110 speed up the scanning process, allowing you to create copies, PDFs or email attachments at the push of a button. Since it gets power directly through the USB transfer cord, this photo scanner also saves power without adding to the messy tangle of cords under your desk. Despite its small size, the CanoScan LiDE110 scanner has a brilliant color spectrum. It’s capable of [...]
